Welcome to MnemoDeck

MnemoDeck is a modern flashcard application for Windows that helps you learn and memorise anything using active recall. You create decks of cards, organise them with categories and tags, then test yourself with built-in quizzes.

If you are opening MnemoDeck for the first time, start with the Getting Started guide below. It walks you through the main window and shows you how to navigate the app. From there, follow the topics in the order that suits you.

Ways to Use MnemoDeck

Discover how MnemoDeck works as a flashcard study tool, a personal knowledge base, a deck-sharing platform, and — most powerfully — an AI-assisted deck creator that generates complete study decks in minutes.

Getting Started

First launch, the main window layout (title bar, sidebar, deck details, status bar), and how to navigate back to previous screens.

Deck Categories

Create, rename, and delete categories. Expand or collapse them to keep your sidebar tidy. Use Collapse All and Expand All buttons.

Decks

Create a new deck with emoji, name, labels, font defaults, and custom card order. View deck details, sort decks, and understand system-protected decks.

Tags

Add colour-coded tags to decks, customise their names and descriptions, remove tags, and apply them to individual cards using the tag picker.

Cards — Display View

Browse your cards, search by title or content, filter by tags, view rich-text content, check metadata (dates, streak, success rate), and manage star ratings.

Cards — Add / Edit

Create and edit cards with the rich text editor. Format text, insert images, hyperlinks, and card links. Reorder cards with drag or keyboard shortcuts.

Quiz

Configure quiz options (self-assess or multiple choice), set card limits and timers, filter by tags or difficulty, then review your results.

Backup & Restore

Back up all your data to a file and restore it later. Navigate the settings hub and understand what happens during a restore.

Export & Import

Export individual decks as .mdeck files, import them on another device, or import a JSON deck created manually or with AI assistance.

Move Cards

Move cards from one deck to another, optionally filtering by tags. Automatically tag moved cards and delete empty source decks.

Application Logs

View application event logs for troubleshooting. Refresh the list or copy all entries to your clipboard to share with support.

Options

Customise app-wide settings: theme, font sizes, backup reminders, database maintenance, quiz defaults, card editor behaviour, and deck defaults.
