5.1 — Left Panel — Card List

The left panel displays a scrollable list of all cards in the current deck. It includes tools for creating new cards, searching, and sorting.

Opening the Card List

1. From the main Decks view, select a deck in the sidebar.
2. Click the Cards button in the deck details panel.
3. The Display Card page opens. The left panel shows all cards in the deck.

Creating a New Card

1. At the top of the card list, click the New Card button.
2. This takes you directly to the Add / Edit page with an empty card ready to fill in.

Search (Title Search)

The search bar at the top of the card list lets you quickly find cards by their title (the Key field).

1. Click the search text box at the top of the card list.
2. Type the text you are looking for. The card list filters in real time, showing only cards whose titles contain what you typed.
3. To clear the search, delete the text from the search box or click the X button inside the search bar.

Advanced Search

For more detailed searching, expand the advanced search panel to search within descriptions, examples, and notes, or filter by tags.

1. Click the toggle button next to the search bar to expand the advanced search panel.
2. You will see several options:
   • Include Description — Tick this checkbox to also search within card descriptions.
   • Include Example — Tick this to search within the example field.
   • Include Notes — Tick this to search within the notes field.
   • Select Tags — Click this button to open a tag picker and filter results to only cards that have specific tags applied.
   • Clear Tags — Click this to remove any tag filters you have set.
3. After setting your options, click the Search button to run the search.
4. To leave search mode entirely and see all cards again, click the Exit Search Mode button (X icon).

Sort Order

Click the Sort button at the top of the card list to change the order cards are displayed. Options include sorting by name (A–Z or Z–A) or by date. If the deck has Custom card order enabled, you will also see a “Custom” option that preserves the manual order you set in the edit view.

Card List Items

Each item in the list shows the card’s title (the Key value). If the deck uses Custom card order, some cards may be indented to show a parent/child relationship. Child cards (sub-items) appear slightly indented under their parent card.

5.2 — Resizable Splitter

Between the card list (left panel) and the card content area (centre), there is a thin vertical splitter bar. You can drag this bar left or right to make the card list wider or narrower.

1. Hover your mouse over the thin vertical line between the card list and the content area. Your cursor changes to a left-right resize arrow.
2. Click and drag left to make the card list narrower, or drag right to make it wider.
3. Release the mouse button when the panels are the size you want.

5.3 — Card Content Area

The centre area of the screen shows the full content of whichever card you have selected in the card list.

1. Click any card in the left panel list to select it.
2. The centre area updates to display that card’s content.

The content area shows the following sections from top to bottom:

• Key heading — The main title/heading of the card, displayed in the font size and colour set by the deck’s field defaults.
• Description — The main body content of the card, displayed as rich text (formatted text with bold, italic, colours, images, etc.). This is read-only in the display view.
• Example — An optional section that shows example content. If you did not enter anything in the Example field when creating the card, this section is hidden.
• Note — An optional section for additional notes. Like the Example section, it is hidden if empty.

5.4 — Star Rating (Difficulty)

Each card has a difficulty rating from 1 to 5 stars. A higher rating means you consider the card more difficult. This rating can be used to filter quizzes so you focus on harder material.

Viewing the current rating

The star rating is displayed in the card content area, usually near the top. Filled stars indicate the current difficulty level.

Editing the rating

1. Find the star rating area on the currently displayed card.
2. Click the small edit icon (pencil) next to the stars.
3. The stars become interactive. Click the star that corresponds to the difficulty you want to assign (1 star = easiest, 5 stars = hardest).
4. The rating is saved immediately.

5.5 — Right Panel — Metadata

The right panel shows additional information about the currently selected card. This data helps you track your study progress and understand how cards are connected.

• Tags — The colour-coded tags applied to this card. See Tags for more about how tags work.
• Linked From (Backlinks) — If other cards contain links to this card (inserted using the Card Link feature in the editor), they are listed here. You can click a backlink to navigate directly to that card.
• Created date — The date and time this card was first created.
• Last review date — The last time you answered a quiz question about this card.
• Success rate — The percentage of times you answered correctly when this card appeared in a quiz.
• Current streak — The number of consecutive correct answers for this card in recent quizzes.

5.6 — Action Buttons

At the bottom of the right-side metadata panel, you will find two action buttons:

Edit

1. Click the Edit button to open the selected card in the Add / Edit view where you can modify its content.

Delete

1. Click the Delete button to remove the selected card from the deck.
2. A confirmation dialog appears asking if you are sure.
3. Click Delete to permanently remove the card, or Cancel to keep it.
