Backup Reminder
MnemoDeck can automatically remind you to back up your data if you have not done so recently. This page explains how the reminder works and what to do when you see it.
9 — Automatic Backup Reminder
What is the backup reminder?
The backup reminder is a small popup (sometimes called a “teaching tip”) that appears near the gear icon in the title bar. It gently notifies you that it has been a while since your last backup and suggests that you create one.
When does it appear?
The reminder appears automatically when all of the following conditions are true:
- Backup reminders are enabled in Options > Backup & Data Safety.
- The number of days since your last backup exceeds the reminder threshold (e.g., 7 days by default).
- Enough time has passed since you last dismissed the reminder (controlled by the re-show frequency setting).
What to do when you see it
- Read the reminder message. It tells you how many days it has been since your last backup.
- You have two choices:
- Back up now — Click the gear icon to open Settings, then go to Backup and create a backup. The reminder will not appear again until the threshold is exceeded again.
- Dismiss — Click the Got it button on the reminder popup. The reminder disappears for now but will return after the re-show frequency period if you still have not backed up.
How to turn off the reminder
If you do not want to see backup reminders at all:
- Open the Settings Hub (gear icon).
- Go to Options.
- In the Backup & Data Safety section, turn off Enable backup reminders.
- Click Save.
Tip: Even if you turn off the reminder, it is still a good idea to back up regularly. Data loss can happen unexpectedly — a backup ensures you can always recover your cards.
